Privacy Policy
Effective Date: March 2026
Ask Scripture is a tool for personal reflection. What you bring to it is between you and God's Word. This policy explains plainly what information is collected, what is not, and how we handle it.
1 · Who We Are
Ask Scripture is a free Bible reflection tool available at askscripture.org (or wherever you are accessing this service). It is operated as a personal ministry project with the sole purpose of helping people find comfort and guidance in Scripture.
If you have questions about this policy, you may contact us at: askscripture40@gmail.com
2 · What We Do Not Collect
Ask Scripture does not collect, store, or transmit:
Your name, email address, phone number, or any information that identifies you as an individual. Your IP address, location data, or device identifiers linked to your identity. The text of your personal reflections or any part of your conversation with the tool. Payment details of any kind — all donations are processed securely by PayPal, and we never see or store your financial information.
There is no user account, no login, and no registration of any kind. Ask Scripture does not know who you are, and is not designed to.
3 · What We May Collect
Ask Scripture may collect limited, anonymized and aggregated data to understand how the tool is being used and to improve it over time. This may include general patterns such as the broad topics or themes people bring to the tool, as understood in aggregate — not in connection with any individual.
This type of data contains no personal details, no names, no conversation content, and nothing that could identify you as an individual. It is used solely for the purpose of improving the quality and relevance of Ask Scripture's responses.
4 · How Your Messages Are Processed
When you submit a reflection, your message is sent to the Anthropic Claude AI to generate a Bible-based response. This is a standard API request — your message travels to Anthropic's servers and a response is returned. Ask Scripture itself does not store your message.
Anthropic, the company that operates the Claude AI, has its own privacy practices and data handling policies. We encourage you to review Anthropic's privacy policy at anthropic.com/privacy if you would like to understand how your input may be handled on their end. Anthropic's use of API data is generally more limited than consumer-facing products, and inputs are not used to train models by default.
5 · Bible Content and Copyright
Ask Scripture draws exclusively from Bible translations that are fully in the public domain: the King James Version (KJV), the World English Bible (WEB), and the American Standard Version (ASV, 1901). No copyrighted Bible translations are used. These texts are freely available to all, with no copyright restrictions, and their use raises no licensing concerns.
6 · Cookies and Tracking
Ask Scripture does not use cookies, advertising trackers, analytics platforms (such as Google Analytics), or any third-party tracking technology. No data is shared with advertisers. No behavioral profile is built about you.
Ask Scripture products are free from advertising. No advertiser pays to have content placed in, or promoted through, Ask Scripture.
7 · Donations and PayPal
Ask Scripture accepts voluntary donations through PayPal. When you donate, you are taken directly to PayPal's secure platform. All payment processing is handled entirely by PayPal. Ask Scripture does not collect, see, or retain any payment information, card details, or financial data of any kind.
Donations are entirely voluntary and are never required to use the tool. For PayPal's privacy practices, please visit paypal.com/us/legalhub/privacy-full.
8 · Not a Substitute for Pastoral or Professional Care
Ask Scripture is designed for personal, private reflection. It is not a licensed counseling service, a mental health platform, a medical resource, or a substitute for the care of a pastor, minister, or professional counselor.
Responses are generated by an AI system and are provided for informational and devotional purposes only. Ask Scripture makes no warranties, express or implied, regarding the accuracy, completeness, or applicability of any response to your personal situation.
If you are facing a serious life situation, we encourage you to speak with a trusted pastor, faith community leader, or licensed professional who can give you the personal care you deserve.
9 · Crisis Resources
If you or someone you know is experiencing thoughts of self-harm, suicide, or harming others, please do not rely on Ask Scripture. Help is available right now.
988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline — Call or text 988, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, throughout the United States. Confidential support from trained counselors at no cost.
You may also contact local emergency services (911), reach out to a pastor or trusted person in your life, or visit the nearest emergency room if you are in immediate danger.
10 · Limitation of Liability
Ask Scripture is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Ask Scripture and its operators are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the tool, reliance on its responses, or any errors or omissions in its content.
This limitation applies regardless of the legal theory upon which any claim is based, and even if Ask Scripture has been advised of the possibility of such damages. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation may not apply to you in full.
11 · Children's Privacy
Ask Scripture is not directed toward children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. If you believe a child has submitted information through this tool, please contact us at the address above and we will take appropriate steps.
